First Karwa Chauth
Karwa Chauth is a festive ritual which is
mainly observed by married women. The festival is celebrated for the
longevity of women's marital life. For all the newly-wed couple,
observance of this festival is a very special occasion. A newly
married woman is given utmost importance by her relatives and
immediate family members when she observes the fast for the long
life of her husband. She is showered with blessings of blissful

First Sargi
Also known as pre-dawn meal, 'Sargi' is a meal prepared by the
mother-in-law for her daughter-in-law if she is observing fast. It
is a token of best wishes and blessings for a successful married
life given by a mother-in-law to the daughter-in-law.
First Baya
Baya is another gift given to the newly-wed bride on her first
Karwa Chauth. It comprises of eatables like salted mathris,
dry-fruits and some gifts which are generally related to the marital
use. The woman's mother-in-law also present gifts to all the members
of her daughter's family along with Baya. Some mothers also send
utensils in the Baya which the daughter later distributes amongst
women who join her in the first Karva Chauth Puja as a token of
auspiciousness.
Exchange Gifts
In the evening after completing all the rituals, the married women
receives exquisite karwa chauth gifts from their husbands. When all
married women observes whole day fast without food and water for her
better-half, her husband also overloads her with variety of gifts
and accolades. The gift that a woman receives on her first Karwa
Chauth is generally grand and becomes a possession for lifetime. The
day of Karwa Chauth develops a special kind of bond between the wife
and her husband.
